TCS Promotional Video Script
Total Run Time (about 3:20)

Intro:
(10:00) For many  years, Toledo Christian Schools has been building Strong Minds and Strong Faith, feeding the hearts, minds, and spirits of students from Preschool through grade 12.

(10:00) Few institutions can claim such a long history, and even fewer can demonstrate the life-changing role their teaching has had through the success of their alumni.

Academics:
At Toledo Christian, we encourage the pursuit of academic excellence while providing affordable, quality education in a diverse, nurturing environment.

Our faculty instills values that go forward through life. We encourage students to be passionate about life-long learning.

Our students are provided the latest technology and learn its capabilities early in their education.

And we have results! TCS student’s average a score of 24.4 on the ACT test and 94% of our students attend college after graduation.

Students are given a well-rounded education emphasizing academics as well as an appreciation for the Arts.

Arts:
78% of all TCS high school students are active in the Fine Arts. Those students are also athletes, honor role students, National Honor Society members and student council leaders within the school. For the past several years the Valedictorian and or Salutatorian have been a part of the elite group.

The TCS High School Band is the largest student group on campus, boasting over 80 members. They have traveled around the country performing in festivals and competitions, receiving some of the highest scores and accolades.

TCS offers two full high school choir classes and have also received the highest ratings at festivals and competitions in recent years.

In as early as 5th grade, students can take classes in both band and choir, and unlike most other area schools, these classes are offered every single day.

But it doesn’t start there. Our Eagle’s Nest pre-school and elementary students have bi-weekly classes in both music and art. Their successes are celebrated in the annual Christmas music program. Students are also offered the possibility of extracurricular art afterschool through the Young Rembrandts Art Program.
Athletics
TCS is a member of the Toledo Area Athletic conference and has won the TAAC all sport trophy for the 7th time in the last 9 years. Our student athletes not only excel in the classroom, but in their respective sports, while maintaining Godly character.

Through the dedication and spiritual guidance of our coaching staff, many of our students have gone on to compete at the highest collegiate level. Schools include Michigan, The Ohio State University, Air Force Academy, West Point, The University of Toledo and Akron University.

Community
At TCS, we believe that together by reaching out to the community in greater Toledo and beyond, we can make a positive Christian impact on the world.

We view the world as a mission field and understand the value of service to others. Our TC Cares program helps families and individuals in the community. Students volunteer their time to assist those in the community who need it

Our goal is to graduate strong alumni that are actively engaged in the present and future development of Toledo Christian Schools.

Faith
At TCS, we encourage our students to be leaders in every area of life’s journey. Students become leaders in community and educational activities while developing a strong faith.

Worship time is incorporated as part of the school experience through weekly Chapel sessions designed to engage the students as a community in common worship of the Lord in a non-denominational Christian setting.

At TCS, we provide age-appropriate learning experiences from a biblical worldview that enhance our students’ feelings of confidence and self-worth.

Teachers at Toledo Christian also have a deep involvement in the study of God’s Word, and bring their passion into the classroom, providing mentorship and encouragement to our students.

SUMMARY:
(17:12) Our ministry provides students with the necessary tools to grow into healthy, prolific adults. With our Christ-centered education students develop a moral compass to help them navigate their way through life. At Toledo Christian, we strive to use the blessings given by God to help students learn.

The beginning sequence will begin with a graphic of TCS. The opening scene will begin with the Alumni interview talking about her experiences at TCS. She will only be shown for a few seconds. The clip will then switch to b-roll of the outside of the building at TCS (Have new shots with flowers). This will transition into the four main categories of the promo video. Academics, Arts, Community/Friendship, and Faith. The academics portion will be the majority of the video since this is was TCS focuses on as a school. The Arts, Community, and Faith portions will each be around 30 seconds with short clips of information about that category. The audio will consist of the alumni interview fading in with two different tracks of audio. The audio is upbeat and appropriate for a Christian focused school. Text graphics will be displayed every time a new segment begins with its corresponding category. The ending will fade into a white light with the TCS Logo.

This Week TCS

1) 1.Meeting with Wendy to approve/choose packaging comp

a. Come up with a few choices for dates / times

2) 2.Videos: Need original tapes from vixia for Russell Kille. The .mp4 standard definition (720x480) files are incompatible low-resolution. We need the original Vixia tapes (or files) before compression or we can’t use any of it. There is a lot of good footage, but needs to be HDV 1440x1080 format (high definition) and that original codec (not compressed). This is urgent because if we can’t get this, we will need to reshoot a lot of files, and probably won’t be done by the end of the semester. Options:

a. If mini-DV tape, can borrow tapes (easiest)

b. If still on disc-based vixia, then can borrow camera with files

c. Can come into lab and look at original source files on computer. We will then bring our harddrive and figure out the best way to export them and copy them to our own harddrive.

3) 3.Need music – original audio file without voiceover (music only) or we will need to find/create something new.

Notes from critique

Create a design elements folder for video that includes the Font name, Logo, chapel image, and strong minds, strong faith text.

Print color, full scale, covers mounted on black matte board with black flapping paper. All need to be the same!

Also have B&W mock ups of the covers folded in full scale.

DVD logo must be on the disk, contact info on the disk.

BY TUESDAY

Update on concept and design

Looked at the final concept text, needs to be written as a statement, not as it stands now.

Who is looking into music for the sound track?

What are the designers doing? They need to:
  • Create an overall design identity for the piece
  • Create packaging for distribution
Since the overall concept is fine, get started on the design. Post and bring visual references to class

Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Visited TCS today and got footage of an egg osmosis experiment, spanish review game and history skits with students re-enacting farmers moving to cities.

The second part of the osmosis experiment is on Friday if anyone is interested in going to shoot that.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Group Meeting last night: Began learning about Final Cut Pro, discussed digitizing film and arranged more times and dates to film at TCS.

Gym Opening tonight at 5pm with a couple basketball games following that. We'll be there to get some footage.

Tomorrow there is a shaving cream activity in an elementary class that we're going to shoot.

Saturday Shoot

I believe you have plans to shoot at the Open House on Saturday. I can't be there because I have another event (argh). But, I'd like to hear what you plan on shooting while you're there.

At the Open House, what will be unique to show? What can you get on that day that you can't get on another day? Think about who will be there (teachers, parents, guests, children?)

Try to get your footage ready for Tuesday so we can regroup and talk more about your concept. It's almost there, but I'd like for Lori and I to help you to finesse it.

Thanks!

Concept

The TCS concept is to create a community of leaders. Providing leadership in every area of life's journey. Create skills and Values that move forward. Creating a community of leaders for the future. So becoming a leader through community and educational activities while developing a strong faith.

Faith based learning
Community involvement
Spiritual emphasis
Academic Excellence
Technology
Small class size
Facility
Athletics
Individual attention
Parental involvement
A balanced program
Prep for college
Test scores
New Gym
Good School supplies
Honors Program

FINAL CONCEPT
All these ingredients make up a community of kids that are striving to become great citizens.
Our concept will be showing the process of preparing a student to become a future leader. This includes us following k-12 in sequential order (showing involvement). Showing a students determination to rise through the program. Up until graduation and onto the next step. This could be filmed literally with an ending to white light with TCS logo.
Close shots of students showing involvement in their field.
Idea for a theme:
close community creating leaders?
